TurboGFP is a bright dimeric green fluorescent protein derived from CopGFP of copepod Pontellina plumata. Copepod TurboGFP is evolutionarily distant from jellyfish fluorescent proteins like EGFP: Turbo-GFP has only about 20% sequence identity compared with commonly used GFP variants. Therefore TurboGFP-Trap does not cross-react with EGFP, YFP, CFP, mNeonGreen, etc.

ChromoTek Nano-Traps are derived from single-domain alpaca antibody fragments, termed VHHs or Nanobodies. Nanobodies conjugated to beads are known as Nano-Traps. ChromoTek is the pioneer of analyzing protein-protein interactions using Nanobodies, who has brought fluorescent proteins from cell biology as protein tags into biochemistry laboratories. Today, particularly the ChromoTek GFP-Trap is frequently used for additional applications beyond pulldowns, because of its outstanding binding of GFP-fusions. ChromoTek and GFP-Trap are registered trademarks of ChromoTek GmbH. Nanobody is a registered trademark of Ablynx n. v.

ChromoTek TurboGFP-Trap for IP
Product Information Page
ChromoTek TurboGFP-Trap is launched according to the ChromoTek business strategy to market high-performing immunoprecipitation (IP) tools for fluorescent proteins. Discovered in 2004, TurboGFP is a bright dimeric green fluorescent protein derived from CopGFP of the copepod Pontellina plumata. Copepod TurboGFP is evolutionarily distant from jellyfish-derived fluorescent proteins such as EGFP: Turbo-GFP shares only about 20% sequence identity with the commonly used GFP variants. Therefore most anti-GFP antibodies including the GFP-Nanobody used in GFP-Trap do not bind to TurboGFP.
2、TurboGFP-Trap Description
ChromoTek TurboGFP-Trap for Immunoprecipitation: TurboGFP-Trap is an anti-TurboGFP single domain antibody fragment, also called VHH or Nanobody, coupled to a matrix for pull down of TurboGFP-fusion proteins. TurboGFP-Trap is available as agarose (product code tbta-) and as magnetic agarose (product code tbtma-) in standard pack sizes for two (test sample), 10, 20, 100, 200, and 400 runs each.
ChromoTek TurboGFP-Trap is a product-leading tool IP of TurboGFP-fusion proteins. It meets the requirements of high and low expressed/abundant protein pulldowns. It is a premium tool with a unique performance due to high binding affinity KD = 0.5 nM (This is a picomolar affinity: 500 pM).
ChromoTek TurboGFP-Trap is a convenient, well-characterized, and high-performing tool, ready to use, for fast and efficient one-step immunoprecipitation of TurboGFP-fusion proteins. It is compatible to downstream applications including mass spectrometric (MS) analysis, ELISA, and enzymatic assays as it provides pure extracts of TurboGFP-fusion protein without contaminating heavy and light chain peptides known from conventional (IgG) antibodies and other unspecific protein background: single band purification.
Biochemistry and proteomics research in academia. For research use only.
Biochemists, cell biologist, molecular biologists, biotechnologists. It is likely that those laboratories have already experiences with and publications of GFP- and other fluorescent fusion proteins.
7、Customers’ Applications
ChromoTek TurboGFP-Trap is designed for IP of TurboGFP-fusion proteins and their interacting factors from cell or organelle extracts and lysates for a multitude of biochemical analyses such as IP/co-IP, mass spectrometry, ELISA, and enzyme activity measurements. A list of bound TurboGFP variants is here. TurboGFP-Trap does NOT bind to common GFP derivatives such as EGFP, YFP, and CFP etc.
Competition is conventional antibodies, which still need to be immobilized to (magnetic) agarose beads. Note: TurboGFP binding protein also used in TurboGFP-Trap is the first anti-TurboGFP Nanobody.
Like with GFP/RFP/mNeonGreen-Traps, the concept is to sell affinity tools for biochemical applications (IP) of fluorescent proteins, used in microscopy, without re-cloning: “From cell to gel in less than an hour”.
We advise offer customers testing TurboGFP-Trap. Therefore, we offer TurboGFP-Trap test samples (tbta-2 and tbtma-2). Pack size is sufficient for two IP runs each.
